![]() ![]() Just have to wait now until we get another LS1-powered car. Luck(il)y for me, I work at a wrecking yard these days, so I'm going to switch my PCM for another. It's like taking your car to a mechanic for a wheel alignment then him locking your steering wheel with a clamping device, then charging you $150 when you ask him to remove it. He had no right to lock anything of mine. If I didn't like him I would've lost it at him and demanded he unlock it for nothing. ![]() I called my old tuner today and asked him if he can unlock it and he said he could but would charge me $150, or $100 cash. Thank you (Shpenx too) and I agree with you. As it seems you have been trying to get this thing read for longer than that.I don't want to make this thread about me. It cost me but I had a new PCM in three days and began tuning away. I would have already scrapped the pcm and bought a refurb and had it flashed to stock. I know it probably doesn't matter at this point, but if it was me. Sadly there are some tuners out there who think they are the only ones who can do a tune and that their "Masterpiece" should only be handled by them. I've been following your other thread Mr. That's why I say there really is no point to locking a tune. Even the tunes posted on the forum itself are fair game, as anyone who opens one has it automatically saved on their PC's hard drive by the HP software. They could even go right to the repository and do the same thing as long as a tune that is similar (not even exact) to their application has been uploaded, just to use as a baseline to get a tune started. There is actually a copy all differences feature built into the editor itself just for that purpose. They can even copy anything from it to use on another tune without spending any credits what so ever. The HP Tuner software can read ANY other HP tune as long as it is unlocked. As far as spending credits.actually they don't need to spend anything. And if you tuner locked it the person doing the tune for you wouldn't be able to adjust the tune anyway. ![]() If you are going to be present for the Dyno, and you are using your HP Tuner and Laptop to do the tune, and you do not allow them to hook their own equipment in, they can't copy your file. IF they have HP and use their own laptop and MPVI they could read the unlocked tune from your vehicle, but, I think you are misconstruing my point. They do have to spend 2 credits for it thoughYou are absolutely correct. Also, keep in mind that some new vehicles may only be supported using our latest interface (Universal Credits). They can always read my file if they have their own hpt and laptop. Not every HPT-supported vehicle is eligible for unlimited credits, so make sure to check that on our vehicle page. This is a highly convenient and cost-effective option for tuning shops that specialize in certain year/make/model vehicles or have a lot of the same Y/M/M coming through their doors. 2013 RT Plus Whipple, JG Stage 1 high lift cam, JBA Long tubes and catless mids, 3' Heartthrob exhaust, HP Tuners, and FTI 3000-3200 2016: 12.09 112 - 1.62 60ft NA 2017: 10.96 125 - 1. There’s no need to purchase more Universal Credits every time you onboard a new Silverado customer because you have unlimited licenses. This allows you to tune as many of those vehicles as you want, hence the “unlimited”. What does this mean exactly? If your tuning shop specializes in Silverados and Sierras, for example, you can purchase unlimited Universal Credits or GM credits for select years/ECMs. Unlimited CreditsĪnother major benefit of this system, specifically for large and/or specialized tuning shops, is the option to purchase “ unlimited year/model GM or Universal Credits”. Simply select how many credits you want, checkout, and you’re all set. ![]() Universal Credits apply to every HP Tuners-supported vehicle, so there’s no need to specify year, make, model, license type, etc. Speaking of purchasing credits, the actual purchasing process is very simple because Universal Credits are not vehicle specific. Dyno Tune: A dyno tune can be considered a real-time tune. Youll see noticeable improvement here, but not as much as if you hone in on each specific component. It is a generic, pre-loaded tune (with a handheld tuner) that you can do for any Mustang. You can even keep a credit reserve “just in case” a new platform is supported and you want to start tuning right away. Canned Tune: A canned tune is a solid basic Mustang GT tune. Since you can tune multiple vehicles with a single device and credits, you only purchase credits when you need them. This leads to the next big advantage-cost. The biggest advantage of this system is the fact that you can tune all the (supported) toys in your garage/shop with a single MPVI3 interface.įor professionals, this means that you are able to tune every HPT-supported vehicle that your customers bring to you-trucks, cars, powersports vehicles, and even Sea-Doo personal watercraft. This credit-based licensing system offers a highly efficient and convenient solution for the modern tuning world, whether you’re running a local shop, a large operation, or it’s just you in the garage.
